AGENT OF INFLUENCE: THE SECRET LIFE OF PAMELA MOORE

(Talbot Theatre, Whitchurch, Nov 16)

Arts Alive is delighted to present to Shropshire audiences a new company, Fluff Productions, in their drama Agent of Influence: the Secret Life of Pamela Moore.

‘Mid-calf, navy blue day dress with pearl buttons by Victor Stiebel. Dove-grey tweed jacket and fox stole by House of Hartnell. Hat by Elsa Schiaparelli. Perfect for luncheons, jaunts around town and spying on fascists.’ Lady Pamela, fashion columnist and socialite, is recruited by MI5 to keep notes on Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII, suspected to be colluding with the German Embassy. Pamela discovers that what began as an adventure has become a deadly struggle for power in a world in the shadow of war.

Fluff Productions may be new to Arts Alive but the show has had terrific reviews from other rural touring schemes.

This unusual take on the shady world of early 20th century spying is suitable for adults and older children.

BEYOND THE BARRICADE

(Crew Lyceum, November 18)

The UK’s longest running musical theatre concert tour features past principal performers from Les Miserables.

Delivering more than two hours of the best of Broadway and the West End, and of course ending with a stunning finale from Les Mis.

The concert features David Fawcett (Valjean) Andy Reiss ( Enjolras & Resident Director for the National Tour of Les Miserables) Katie Leeming (Eponine) and Poppy Tierney (Cosette), together with a live band who capture the feel of the original orchestrations of the chosen musicals.

To this day every musical note is still played and sung live – very rare indeed.

Beyond the Barricade gives musical theatre songs a bold concert format treatment – but with the conviction and intention to deliver the material as if the audience are watching the original performance.

This incredible concert is now in its 19th successive year.
