The giving spirit of Whitchurch was out in force again last week as nearly two tonnes of food was collected.
The collection came as part of a national campaign for Sainsbury’s Harvest Drive where foodbanks from across the country joined up with their local stores.
The Whitchurch Foodbank, which operate out of Bargates Hall near St Alkmund's Church. joined with staff in the London Road store to take donations from members of the public.
Ann Poole, PR ambassador for Sainsbury's, said the day went very well.
She said: "We invited our front of house foodbank collection partners in for the day on Saturday, September 22 so that they could raise awareness of what their service provides for the community and how people can help them. A member of the team also came to a colleagues morning meeting to let us know what the service was about.
"They collected more than 1.9 tonnes of goods from the generous colleagues and customers as well as £93.88 in cash. It was a hugely productive day for everyone involved."
