Malpas Parish Council is still deliberating whether to contact police to investigate after a bus shelter in the village was mysteriously demolished.

Pictures were shared with the council from its chairman John Webb and have been seen by The Herald, showing the shelter – in Old Hall Street – to have been partly knocked down.

The council will now need to make it safe to ensure nobody can be hurt by what's left, on advice from their insurers, but there is mystery surrounding how the shelter had come to be knocked over.

Malpas Parish Council clerk Ruth Shackleton said: "The part demolished bus shelter outside The Crown has now been taken down for safety reasons.

"The parish council has contacted its insurance company regarding the matter and is awaiting further instructions.

"[We] will be considering the matter at the next meeting of the parish council on Monday, October 8."

Anyone who may know anything about the collapsed bus shelter is welcome to contact the parish council through www.malpaspcheshire.org

Meanwhile, Malpas is set to host an American singer/songwriter this month in a special gig at St Oswald's Church in Wrexham Road.

Dave Nachmanoff will perform in the village as part of his UK tour promoting his new album ‘Cerulean Sky.’

Dave is well known from accompanying the folk rock singer Al Stewart on Tour for many years, and is admired for his song writing craft and inspiring performances.

Described as “heartfelt, inspired songwriting…with delivery both biting and assured', Dave’s music earned him a place as finalist in The Great American Song Contest 2017.

Yorkshire based duo ‘Plumhall’ are special guests joining Dave for the event. They are well-respected by the music press and other professional acts, and have been called ‘a hidden gem’ by readers of The Guardian and The Observer.

The concert is being held on Thursday, October 18, in St Oswald’s Church, Malpas, starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £15 and include an interval drink. Available online (plus £1 booking fee) via www.individualinns.co.uk/giftshop.html
