Cheshire''s Cholmondeley Castle has once again played host to hundreds of thrill seekers of all ages with the return of the Tough Mudder to its grounds.
The nationwide event, which sees competitors traversing through mud, water, difficult terrain and then through a series of electro shocks – like all the mud isn't enough – to complete an obstacle course aiming to provide memories to last a lifetime.
While some picked up injuries, they still worked hard to complete the tough course with some unrecognisable come the end of the course because they were covered head to toe in mud.
One competitor told cameras at the finish line as to why they thought it was such a good experience for them.
He said: " For me, it's the camaraderie and the spirit. As you're going around, you're meeting people you might not have necessarily met before and they're helping you.
"For me it's just fun!"
Another said: "It's the teamwork aspect that keeps bringing me back."
