People in Wem who are in need of support and advice can take advantage of a weekly service to be held at the Town Hall by Shropshire Council.

'Let's Talk Local' will be every Thursday between 11am and 3pm and for adults of all ages who feel they need support, advice or guidance on a range of issues.

The sessions are being run by Shropshire Council and, according to co-ordinator lead Lisa Jones, will be led by the people and their carers where necessary taking advantage of the service.

"It aims to provide people with an easy and convenient way of accessing information and support relating to the components that are required to lead a fulfilled life," she said.

"This might include questions or queries about how people can be supported to enjoy independence and contentment within their own home and local community.

"Additionally, we are committed to supporting informal carers in Shropshire and recognise and value the contribution they make. We encourage carers to book an appointment of their own in order to explore their caring role and the effect this has on their quality of life.

"Conversation will commonly explore how people might reap the most value from the resources available to them. This may include taking a closer look at material assets, social networks and places or spaces within the community.

"Let’s Talk Local appointments are facilitated by a social care practitioner whereby people are seen on a one-to-one basis. Further to exploring social care priorities, people will be provided with appropriate guidance and signposting regarding services and organisations that may further promote wellbeing.

"If you think this would be of value for you and/or a loved one, then an appointment can be booked at one of our many community hubs, located within venues in the north, south and central regions of the county."
