A CONTROVERSIAL health consultation, pedestrian obstructions and planning matters were on the agenda at a town council meeting.

Members at Llangedwyn Community Council's July meeting noted that the Future Fit consultation was entering its final stage, as the deadline for submissions is September 11.

Residents can have their say at www.nhsfuturefit.org or by emailing nhsfuturefit@nhs.net.

Councillors were concerned that weeds and debris were still obstructing the pavement between Llangedwyn and the Green Inn.

The meeting heard that the obstruction is forcing pedestrians, including those with children and prams, on to the main carriageway, which is busy with fast moving holiday traffic at this time of year.

It was hoped that Powys County Council's highways department would address the problem without delay.

The clerk confirmed that the annual accounts had been submitted to the auditors and thanked Denise Williams for taking time to complete the internal audit.

No objections or comments were raised regarding planning applications for change of use of farm buildings to a wedding venue at Pen y Bryn; change of use of land for a stable block at the Old New Inn, Penybont LE; and the building of a timber single storey conservatory at Rhydygelli, Bwlchyddar.

It was agreed that the council would make a £100 donation towards the cutting of grass in the church yard this summer.

The community council will not meet in August. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 18 at 7pm. All are welcome.
