Whitchurch Young Farmers Club ladies team are the queens of the rope!

The team recently competed in a tug of war competition against other Shropshire Young Farmers Federation Clubs last month.

In a day of seriously high competition, Whitchurch YFC's ladies team pulled their way to victory, while the men's team were not far behind coming a very close second.

Sarah Maginess, a member of the ladies team, was delighted with the efforts of both teams, and praised everyone for their commitment.

She said: “We started training for the Shropshire tug of war competition six weeks prior to competing and we dedicated two nights a week.

"Half of us were new to tug of war but we got stuck in and picked it up quickly.

"On the day of the competition, we fought off some strong opposition and were crowned first place winners.

"We would like to thank Dave Price who gave up his time to train and support us.”

Meanwhile, Whitchurch YFC sent a strong delegation to the Shropshire Federation of Young Farmers Cubs Rally and Dance last weekend.

The event, held in Alberbury, is the pick of the Shropshire-wide Young Farmers calender for the year and had a 'Four-Seasons' theme for 2018.

It gives the clubs the chance to enjoy their yearly efforts in fundraising and bringing together young people in the area, allowing them to socialise and feel part of a bigger group.

Meanwhile, there are still tickets available for the SFYFC President's Annual Charity Summer Lunch and Promise Auction on July 22 at 12.30pm.
