A spectacular Garden Walk and Afternoon Tea proved a recipe for success in raising money for Gobowen's Orthopaedic Hospital.
The Whitchurch branch of The League of Friends celebrated raising £1,128 for The Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital when Lord and Lady Kenyon kindly opened their gates in Hanmer to the charity.
Delicious homemade sandwiches and cakes were served outside in Gredington courtyard where around a hundred League of Friends’ branch supporters enjoyed refreshments with an opportunity to take walks in the grounds. Complementing branch fundraising, members Annie Curran and Carol Aldridge set up a fine stall of plants, books, crafts and produce for visitors to buy.
“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves,” said Sheila Maddocks, chairman of The League of Friends to the Orthopaedic Hospital Whitchurch branch.
“We sincerely thank Lord and Lady Kenyon for hosting the event and everyone who took part and supported us,”
Gredington Park is an early 19th century landscape park with walled gardens surrounded by a pleasure garden and a Japanese garden dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Funds raised from the event have been donated to the Horatio’s Garden Appeal Midlands Spinal Injuries Unit.
