Lakelands Academy has been awarded £655,000 to create a health and wellbeing hub and construct a full size all weather sports pitch.
Following a successful funding bid, awarded earlier this year, work will commence in July to refurbish internal accommodation to create a Health and Wellbeing Hub and construct a full size all weather sports pitch on the school field.
Mrs Bellis, head teacher of the school, said: “Having the right facilities is fundamental in the delivery of our vision, which aims to establish a physical and wellbeing hub which can benefit the community as well as our own students. Our passion is to inspire, enthuse and encourage physical and mental well-being in the young people within our community and beyond.”
"The academy is delighted to have received this substantial funding sum which offers us a unique opportunity to create the excellent sporting facilities needed to develop sporting opportunities for everyone - from the youngest beginner to the international class athlete - optimising the opportunities available for academy students and the wider community.
"The Academy is an expanding, highly successful and increasingly popular academy, committed to the development and improvement of its school buildings and facilities in order to provide first class accommodation for students, staff and the wider community."
