While a trip to play under Wembley's famous arch may be a bridge too far for Whitchurch Alport in 2018/19, boss Luke Goddard has admitted he is looking forward to taking the Reds on some famous cup adventures.

Goddard was speaking after he confirmed he will remain in charge at Yockings Park for another season, receiving the confirmation he need regarding new members being recruited for the club's committee to enable him to focus on first team affairs at the club.

And he admits that life in the Premier Division will be tough for Alport, meaning victories will be harder to come by so he intends to target one of the many cups Alport are in this season, including national trophies.

"This season, we're playing 42 league games, we'll only play 38 this season and that'll give us a little more time," he said.

"I think this season we need to prioritise some of the cup competitions this season,. especially the Football Association ones.

"We know the Premier Division is going to be very tough for us so we should be looking at trying to do more in the cups if we can,.

"We haven't really looked at doing that so far.

"We've entered into the FA Trophy and FA Vase, and we're going to have a go at the FA Cup too which is normally our first cup game with the preliminary round.

"It would be nice to get a good home tie in the FA Cup and try to go a couple of rounds in that, which would be great. We know that in reality,w e';re not going to be winning as many games in the Premier Division so it would be nice for the fans to enjoy the cup runs."

The dates for the FA Cup are yet-to-be confirmed, while Alport will be playing in the TJ Vickers Shropshire Cup, The Macron Cup and The Reusch Champions Cup.

Goddard's men have been focused on promotion but did reach the semi-finals of the TJ Vickers Cup last season.

Alport are expected back in training at the end of June ahead of pre-season.
