Keen snappers can win a top prize of £1,000 or a stay at Cheshire's Combermere Abbey if they can showcase the best of what the British countryside has to offer in a photo competition.

The competition is being hosted by the Country Land and Business Association (CLA), which represents farmers, landowners and rural businesses, and it wants to both capture the nation’s beautiful rural landscapes and celebrate the people who live and work there.

The stay at the award-winning Combermere is one of a number of great prizes, including a case of 12 bottles of Tanners Wines for the monthly prize and along with prizes for under-18s and regional entries, a photography shoot with drone photographer Ed Shepherd is part of the top package.

Mike Ashton, the CLA's Midlands communications manager, said: "Until January 2019 we are inviting people to capture on camera the rich diversity of rural communities, workplaces, wildlife and the iconic features that make up our wonderful landscapes. There is certainly no shortage of subject matter across our region.

"We have some brilliant prizes on offer and the winning entries will be showcased in the CLA’s Land and Business magazine throughout the year.

"Whether you’re an established photographer or an enthusiastic snapper, if you’re passionate about the countryside I urge you to enter."

The competition is open to the public. Monthly entries will close at noon on the 12th day of each month (any entries after noon will be entered for the following month).
