Whitchurch Town Twinning Association’s usual monthly meeting was held at the Dodington Lodge last week.
The chairman, Andy Allen, started the meeting by wishing members a happy new year before more outline planning for next year’s French visit was undertaken.
As it was Party in the Park weekend, it was debated if the planned excursion for the Saturday should be moved to the Sunday to allow time to be spent in Whitchurch during this event.
The problems of being able to have everyone lunch together when the town was so busy with the farmers’ market and the party were considered and various proposals were mooted.
It was decided to leave decisions until exact numbers from the French were confirmed.
Meanwhile, menu choices for the annual social on January 26 were confirmed. The cost will be £20.95 and there will be the usual raffle.
Members are asked to donate prizes. Councillors had been invited, but none had responded with the exception of the mayor, Tony Neville, who was unable to attend.
Cyril and Kath Bebbington had expressed themselves proud and honoured to be accorded honorary membership of the Association, while November 28 was confirmed as the preferred date for a coffee morning.
A decision on whether to attend the Boat Rally in September was postponed until it could be ascertained how many members would be available.
A date for the February meeting will be advised as the chairman cannot make normal date, though the time will remain the same.
All interested parties are welcome to attend. Membership enquiries to secretary Val Webb, on 01948 663948.
