WHITCHURCH Alport are asking their army of fans to back their huge final push for promotion to the Hallmark Security League Premier Division.

The team have been in the top six since August and secured a play-off place a few weeks ago.

But their play-off opponents – City of Liverpool – were confirmed only after the final league matches took place at the weekend.

Alport knew they would be away from home at either Litherland REMYCA or CoL – but there were a number of different permutations, with Sandbach United also in the mix.

Just five points separated the four clubs whose seasons will be extended by a week or two going into the 42nd game of the campaign. But wins for REMYCA, Liverpool and Alport ensured the play-off places remained unchanged, rendering Sandbach’s home defeat to Stockport immaterial.

So the stage is set for an absolute humdinger at the Delta Taxis Stadium on Saturday (3pm), with a crowd of around 1,000 expected to cram into the Vesty Street ground in Bootle.

More than 1,100 spectators watched the two league games between the clubs – with both staged in midweek.

And CoL officials are hoping for around 800 of their own supporters to attend the game.  Alport should take at least 200 to Merseyside and are likely to be taking at least one coach.

More information will be made available regarding pick-up location and time through the club’s social media sites (@alportfc on twitter, and Whitchurch Alport FC on facebook, as well as the club’s website whitchurchalportfc.co.uk
