WHITCHURCH Alport’s juggernaut continues to gather pace after another set of Tuesday-Saturday fixtures brought two more victories to send them to the top of the league.
Their demolitiona job on a completely- outclassed Eccleshall on Wednesday night was followed by a workmanlike performance at Silsden which ended in another away win – their ninth in a row since the setback at Holker in mid-August.
Remarkably, with the exception of the 1-0 away win at Atherton LR earlier this month, each of the other eight games has seen the hugely- entertaining Yockings side score three or more goals.
Their tally for the season has risen to 48, and with 13 wins and a draw from their 19 league games to date, Luke Goddard and Carl Everall’s men are now considered a prized scalp for the other 21 teams in the Hallmark Security League.
Goddard was pleased to get points on the board with a three-week gap until the side compete in the league again.
“I'm delighted for everyone at the football club after another hard- earned three points which took us to the top of the table,” he said.”
“Silsden were one of the best sides we’ve come up against this season; they have some exceptional quality in forward areas and for us to go there and defend like we did is a credit to the group we have here.
“Our preparation was disrupted with our kit arriving only 10 minutes before kick-off and we’ve had to show a lot of character to ensure we didn’t need to look for excuses if we’d got a bad result or given a sub-standard performance."
