WELL, that’s it. No more time for talking.

There is just one more light training session to go tomorrow night  before Whitchurch Alport embark on their Hallmark Security Division One campaign this coming weekend.

The visitors to Yockings Park are Daisy Hill, and Eccleshall also come to Shropshire on Tuesday night (7.45) as Alport open with back-to-back home games.

Whitchurch have been impressive in each of their pre-season games, so there’s much for the locals to be positive about. This is the club’s 70th anniversary season, and it’s one in which they want to make a connection with the local community.

Luke Goddard and Carl Everall, the joint management team, have made no secret of the fact they want to see good numbers through the gates.

They’re under no illusions though, that their side have to win football matches to perhaps lay to rest some of the cynicism that existed last term, when the team became whipping boys week in, week out.

But those days are long gone and Whitchurch Alport Football Club is a completely different animal this time around. Goddard and Everall have completely revolut-ionised the place since they were unveiled as the co-managers at the end of May.

And there are 20 players who have all bought into the project who look full of ability, have bags of enthusiasm, and show boundless energies.
