Seconds fail to capitalise

A BRIGHT start couldn’t save Whitchurch 2nds from a 5-2 home defeat against Stone 2nds.

Whitchurch’s Sean Lee scored early on his return to the club, but the game turned in favour of Stone who showed why they are top of the league, going in at half-time 3-1 up.

Whitchurch improved in the second half but could only find the back of the net once more thanks to Michael Lawledge-Evans. They travel to Old Silhillians this Saturday hoping for better luck.

Whitchurch Ladies 2nds met their league leaders Sale 2nds and were subjected to a similar drubbing.

Sale came out firing on all cylinders, scoring four in a disastrous first half for the Whitchurch girls.

After major reorganisation at half- time, Whitchurch scored immediately through a clean strike by Nina Reynolds and continued to dominate with another goal following from Sophie Bowen.

Sale got one back but the second half was all Whitchurch.

PoM was goalkeeper Mel Fisher who made a string of fine saves.

Whitchurch Badgers U15s could have scored six or seven but had to settle for a 3-0 defeat at home against Telford U15s.

With poor finishing and good goalkeeping, it was not their day and Telford took their own chances well, but Joe Nicholson, 11, Marcos Conway, 12, and Lewis Hall, 11, all held their own against the older boys.

Whitchurch are away to Ludlow this Saturday.
