School wins control of its own budget
WHITCHURCH Junior School is among the first schools nationally to gain the Financial Management Standard in Schools (FMSIS) award.
It has also received the International Schools award for its teaching of the wider world.
The school, which costs £1m a year to run, now controls its own budget in line with other Shropshire schools.
Headteacher Matthew Copping said: “The FMSIS is a standard all schools need to achieve in the next few years.
“The budget covers all the school costs from site maintenance to salaries, health and safety matters and rates.
“The International Schools award shows we are developing children’s awareness of the world - they learn French and we encourage a multi-cultural perspective.”
