It was a break from the norm for Timone Orritt when she competed in the Trailblazers Showjumping competition.

But once again the 17-year-old Wem pupil, who usually competes in three-day eventing competitions, excelled as she won on both days and overall.

Timone, who was competing on her 13-year-old New Forest pony Backley Rolo, had beaten off competition from across the country to qualify for the event at Stoneley in Warwickshire, which is based on a points system over two days with the pair with the most points overall winning.

She said: “It was amazing, it was exciting – but it was quite a shock.

“I knew we could do it on a good day, but I didn’t expect to win.

“Backley Rolo was amazing.”

Timone, who attends Thomas Adams School, said she would now return to three-day eventing with her eyes set on qualifying for next year’s Badminton competition, which she took part in two years ago.

And in the meantime she was visiting the Scope Festival taking place at Oswestry Showground this week – not to compete, but to watch from the sidelines as her friend was taking part in the international competition.

Timone added: “I’d like to thank everyone who has helped me over the years to get to this point.”
