Staff at Greenfields Care Home in Whitchurch are delighted after raising a record-breaking amount of money from a community fundraiser.
The event at the Liverpool Road home last Saturday saw hundreds of people entertained with ice-cream seller Mr Tee on hand for refreshments.
Sarah Wootton, from Greenfields, says it was another part of how the home is trying to become part of the community.
“We have done a tot up this week, and we have made £742.83,” she said.
“We’re really pleased with that – I think it’s the most we’ve raised.
“That’s down to the fact we put on a good day and we got our message out to people.
“The number of people there was well into three-figure numbers, and we sold more than 1,000 individual raffle tickets at £1 a strip.
“I think the residents had a great time – they’re still talking about it days later, which is a good sign.
“We’re just trying to get out into the town more regularly and be part of the community.
“I’d like to thank Homebase, Gallery Flowers, Etzio, Tesco, Sainburys, The Factory Shop, Lorna’s House, Alderford, The White Bear, The Dog & Bull, Telford Ice Rink and Glee Club for their donations.”
She also thanked singer Emma Prince, Mr Ricky of Mr Tee Ice Creams, the numerous stallholders, residents and their families, and the visitors and staff of Greenfields, for making it such a successful event.
