Whitchurch coach Scott Sturdy has challenged his players to finish the season is style by maintaining a perfect league record after sealing the title on Saturday.

The Reds stormed past Ludlow at Edgeley Park, running out 48-13 winners, bouncing back from the disappointment of missing out on a chance to play at Twickenham last week.

With the title is safely in the bag, coach Sturdy is now challenging the league leaders to finish the campaign on a high as he plans for next season's return to division one west (north).

"Obviously we're delighted to be champions, but it's not enough just winning the league and getting promotion, we want to go through the league with a 100 per cent record," he said.

"We want to make sure we go up in style by playing some attacking, free-flowing rugby in our last four league games.

"We are building for a higher level next season. It will be a lot tougher, and we know we will be punished if we make the same mistakes."

Sturdy was full of praise for the manner in which the high-flying Reds bounced back from their Droitwich despair to maintain their commanding 19-point lead at the top of the table.

"The week before left a bitter taste, so to beat Ludlow in the way we did was a very good response," he said.

"After the Droitwich game, we were angry, disappointed, frustrated, call it what you want. We know we are better than that, so it was important that we learned the lessons,

"We were far better in terms of discipline and the way we approached the breakdown. When we play like we can, teams struggle to stick with us at home."
