Whitchurch coach Scott Sturdy was delighted with his side's excellent all round display last weekend, which saw the league leaders continue their free-scoring run.

The Reds made it 20 out of 20 on Saturday in what has been an outstanding season so far – their 14th in the league – as they brushed Kidderminster aside.

And Sturdy is finally allowing himself to believe it will be Whitchurch's year.

"It was a very good performance, and it's the third time we've got to 50 points in the league, as well as against Coalville in the RFU Intermediate Cup," he said.

"We pretty much dominated the game, and were very strong in the set pieces which gave us a good platform to play from.

"We said beforehand that we needed to improve in certain areas, which we did. We know that if we are to aspire to get back in the Midlands One next season, then we need to be scoring 30, 40 or even 50 points.

"We've now got a big game against Walsall, who had been fourth but have fallen away a bit since Christmas, although they won on Saturday,

"It's our game in hand, and after this all the teams will be on the same number of games. If we can get a lead of 17 points at the top, I think we will take some catching."

The emphatic victory put them 12 points ahead of Crewe and Nantwich.
