West Midlands Regional League
Premier Division
Wolverhampton Sporting Community 4-2 Ellesmere Rangers
Rangers suffered their first defeat in six games after five straight wins when they were beaten by title contenders Sporting Community in the B;lack Country.
It was only Rangers's second defeat of 2018 following the appointment of new management and it took a mammoth effort from Community to see off the Meresiders who remain in the top seven with 10 games to play.
Last night they played Tividale in the cup, but on Saturday they host Wolverhampton Casuals at Beech Grove (3pm)
Division One
League Cup
Telford Juniors 4-1 Wem Town
Wem's hopes of a league and cup double were dealt a blow when they were beaten at Telford Juniors on Saturday.
However, their bid to secure the Division One title was strengthened when Newport Town were beaten away at Gornal Athletic, meaning Wem are now 12 points ahead but having played two games extra.
If Newport were to win those, Wem would still be six points ahead with 15 to play for.
On Saturday, they head to Tipton Town for a 3pm start on what is five games on the road.
If Newport match Wem's record from now until the end of the season, it would see Wem needing just a point in their penultimate game at Willenhall Town on April 21 but could be as early as April 7.
Shropshire Premier League
Premier Division
Prees remain four points behind Oakengates Athletic at the top of the Premier Division in the Shropshire Premier League, albeit with a game in hand.
The Rec men will be looking to bounce back after a home thrashing by Newport Town Reserves on March 10 means they need Athletic to slip up if they are to win the title.
They will host Shrewsbury Juniors on Saturday at the Rec for a 3pm kick-off.
But they are still in control of their destiny when they make the trip to Ketley on March 31 in a top-of-the-table clash against Athletic.
If Prees win that and their game in hand, they would be in prime position to win the title as there would be just two games left to play with Prees a point ahead of their rivals.
They would finish their season with a trip to top-four side Clee Hill United and then finish the season with a home clash against Madeley Sports.
