West Midlands Regional League
Division One
Wem Town 5
Bromyard Town 2
Wem Town’s bid for promotion to the Premier Division remains on track after they signed off 2017 with a superb home win on Saturday.
The stunning win – the fifth time in eight games that Wem have scored more than four – gives them a six point buffer between themselves in second and third-placed Old Wulfrinians, who have a game in hand.
However, Wem are just three points behind leaders Newport Town who have played one extra game, but also have a significantly stronger goal difference of 45 compared to the Bowensfield men’s 27.
On Saturday, the travel to Bustlehome for a 3pm kick-off.
Meanwhile, Ellesmere Rangers’ home clash with Wednesfield was called off. On Saturday, they head to Bilston Town Community.
Prees return to action in the Shropshire Premier Division with a trip to leaders Oakengates Athletic, hoping to close the four-point gap.
A win for the Rec Men on Saturday and in their game in hand could see them join the top-of-the-table.
They kick-off at 2pm.
