Iscoyd & Fenns Bank ended the first half of the season on a disappointing note with an 86 run defeat against Wellington 3rds in Manly Bowdler League Division Two.

Fenns opted to field first after winning the toss and soon made good progress by quickly dismissing both openers.

However an 80 run stand between captain Steve Pitchford (51) and 14-year-old Tim Dean (38) put the hosts in the driving seat and were well set at 132-2.

But Fenns fought back well with some good bowling and fielding to restrict Wellington to 190 all out.

Duncan Wright mopped up the tail finish with 5-27 and Paul Winfield continued his good form with the ball, taking 2-30.

In reply Fenns never got going with both openers being dismissed in the first eight balls of the innings.

A number of batsmen got starts but no one was able to make a score of significance and Fenns folded for 106 inside 25 overs.

Young left arm spinner Dan Lloyd was the match-winner taking 6-43 off 12 overs while John Lloyd and Paul Winfield were joint top scorers with 24.

Captain Paul Gresty, who was absent from the game with a knee injury said: "It was a disappointing day for us with the bat but there are still plenty of positives to be taken from the first half of the season.
"It is important that we build on this for the remaining 11 games and finish as high as we can in the league."

This week Fenns travel to South Shropshire to take on Willey Wanderers.
On Sunday Fenns welcomed Windsor Wesleyans from Liverpool to Iscoyd Park.

However a heavy rain shower just before the scheduled start forced both captains to agree to a 30 over game.

The visitors batted first a posted a formidable 176-5 with Tim Kenwood hitting an unbeaten 100 while captain Duncan Chaplin impressed with the ball, taking 2-25.

Fenns chased the runs valiantly with John Lloyd making 46, John Faulkner 40 and Chaplin 36 but ended up 12 runs short of their victory target.
