In a dramatic final twist to the season, ISCOYD AND FENNS BANK snatched an unlikely victory to clinch Division Three of the Shropshire Cricket League – their first league title since 1978. Having been dismissed for just 118 by Chelmarsh bowling duo Steve Lewis (5-40) and Sam Best (5-23) it looked as though Fenns had stumbled at the last hurdle when Chelmarsh were well set at 99-3. But the dismissal of captain Andy Unitt for a classy 72 turned the game on its head. Tom Lea (4-24) and Duncan Wright (5-48) tore through the lower order as the hosts lost seven wickets for five runs to hand Fenns both a 13-run victory and the league title. It was also great to see the game being played in good spirit, with Wheaton Aston players tuning up to watch and being extremely sporting in their congratulations to a jubilant Fenns team.
