ELLESMERE College Shooting Club have two new coaches lined up in their sights.
David Gregory - an active member of Crewe Rifle and Pistol Club - and Tom Rylands who currently shoots for Cheshire and England and is in the Great Britain squad who are preparing for the 2011 World Long Range Championships.
David started shooting when he was at school where he shone in target shooting.
He was a member of National Rifle Association GB Black Powder Rifle Team between 1997 and 1999 and is now match director for the NRA Historic Arms Meeting.
He is also the originator and organiser of the HBSA 1910 short range Classic meeting which has run for 20 years.
“Since it is a great boost to a child’s confidence and self esteem, I firmly believe it is important that every child is given the chance to find a sport that they can do well in. I am delighted to have the chance to help coach the considerable shooting talent at Ellesmere College,” said David.
The other additional shooting coach is Tom Rylands from Whitchurch, a managing director of a business in Malpas. In 2008 he toured the USA with the England team and was captain this year. He has been part of the British Team since 1988.
Tom has been involved in coaching since 1993 having been involved with Great Britain’s senior shooters and under 25’s as well as coaching club and county shooters right down to scout and guide groups.
“I enjoy training the particularly talented individuals as well as introducing other pupils to target shooting,” he said.
