Dudley Kingswinford 20-17 Whitchurch Under 17s

Four tries were enough to see Whitchurch Under 17s return to winning ways and clinch the North Mids Northern League with a 29-17 victory at Dudley Kingswinford.

They now qualify for North Midlands Division One after Christmas and are also entered into the National Cup competition from March.

This was Whitchurch's best performance of the season with all the players fired up after last weekend's loss.

The forwards and backs dominated the first half with a score of 22-5 and three tries from flanker James Hockenhull, No 8 Kirk Robinson and centre Ollie Brereton.

The second half continued in the same vein and from his own 22 metre line full back Jamie Whittles accelerated onto a pass from flyhalf Tristan Lomax, split the Dudley defence and continued his run to beat the winger and full back to score under the posts.

Tristan Lomax kicked a penalty and three conversions. MoM was full back Jamie Whittles who had an outstanding match.

Dudley scored two consolation tries when Whitchurch started to relax, but overall the performance was much improved. The final league game is at Edgeley Road next Sunday (November 1) against Bromsgrove.
