WITH the addition of Martyn Davies to the managerial team at Whitchurch, Alport have brought in three players who have all played for the joint manager before.

“Jud Ellis is a 22-year-old attacking midfielder,” said Davies. “He was with me at Market Drayton so is used to playing at a higher level having also turned out for Stafford Rangers.

“He’s always looking to weigh in with a goal or two and I’m confident he’ll have an impact with us as he’s a quality player.”

Experience comes in the form of Nicky Porter – aged 35 – who has been with Telford United, Colwyn Bay, Bridgnorth Town, and for the past decade with Davies at Drayton.

Davies said: “Nicky is a player with a wealth of experience which will be invaluable to us. Despite his age he’s supremely fit with a fantastic work ethic.”

James Bennett-Tindall, 20, is another Davies knows well. The youngster has also played for Hinckley and Halesowen Town and can play wide or at full-back.

Davies said: “He’s got bags of pace. He’s very direct who can play in a number of positions. He will be a real threat for us going forward.”

Davies added: “We’ve also signed Joe Cuff, who is 21. He’s a very quick winger, direct and goes past players for fun. He’s still registered for Newport Town and played for me at Market Drayton Town.”

Going out of the door at Yockings Park is youngster Luke Walley. The teenager has signed dual registration forms for Nantwich Town.

Walley had scored eight goals in all competitions for the Reds this season but Alport were happy to let the youngster leave for the Weaver Stadium side while retaining his services.
