Division 5

Whitchurch 2s 4

Brooklands 4s 2

THERE was a great start to the match when, inside two minutes Holly Jepson scored a cracking goal for Whitchurch.

Tracy Tolhurst, Phoebe Jones and Ellie Windsor were on form in attack and they soon scored another as Stephanie Stanton fired the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs.

Midfield players Kate Goodwin, Becky Brookfield, Ellie McEvoy and Emily Vernon kept Brooklands at bay, and were in exceptional form throughout the game.

Brooklands continued to battle hard but a superb display by the defence at short corners from Martha Teggin, Jessica Kimberley, Natasha Foster, Jessica Carruthers and goalkeeper Shola Bailey kept their goal intact.

The second half started well with Holly Jepson increasing Whitchurch’s lead.

They still pressed forward, looking for more goals, and Jess Kimberley found the target with a super strike, sending the ball soaring into the net from a short corner.

As the match wore on Brooklands gained the upper hand and bagged two goals – but it wasn’t enough.

The player of the match was Stephanie Stanton.
