Malpas players took part in the Chess Rapidplay tournament on Sunday.

In the Open, Nathanael Paul, who, as well as playing the odd game for Malpas, also plays for Newport and Telford Clubs, was very unlucky to miss out in the prizes, coming fourth with 3.5 out of six. As well as just missing out of the main three prizes he was also pipped for the grading prize.

In the Major, Christopher Lewis, who, like Nat, as well as playing the odd game for Malpas, also plays for Newport and Telford Clubs, was equally unlucky to miss out on the prize money, also coming fourth with 3.5 out of six.

Stuart Hamilton, who last season played alongside Euan Stevenson, Jonathan Smith and Andrew Williams in the Malpas 100 and under side in the Wirral Chess League, got a grading prize at the Crewe rapid play with 4/6 in the minor section.
