Changes proposed for Malpas and District Sports Club have been passed.
The club had sought permission to widen its football pitch, install six demountable floodlights and add a temporary portable changing room for 15 years at The Oxhays on Wrexham Road.
A planning statement said: “Malpas has become the centre for football in South Cheshire. There are no local teams in Farndon, Tilston, or Tattenhall.
“However, without continual progression there are concerns that Malpas will follow other villages and ultimately the football club will cease to exist.”
Case officer Ben Greenwood commented: “It is considered that the proposed football pitch extension, lighting and changing spectator facilities satisfies a recreational need and generates community benefits and subject to appropriate conditions represents an appropriate form of development which would not result in any significant harm to public rights of way, residential amenity, protected species, and would respect the pattern, character and form of the surroundings.”
