Premier Division
Prees 2
Gobowen Celtic 1
Prees provided the perfect response following last week’s defeat, winning at home to Gobowen Celtic thanks to a late Matt Baldwin strike.
The goal was Baldwin’s first for the club having signed for the Rec Men in the summer, and means Prees stay in touch with Oakengates at the top of the Shropshire Premier Division.
Skipper Louis Williams hit the crossbar directly from a corner as the hosts went for Celtic’s throat from the off.
Soon after half-time, Prees were 1-0 up as Martin Williams’s strike was hit hard and low across the keeper in to the far corner.
But an intricate move down the right hand side ended with Ian Heathcock bringing Gobowen level.
With the next goal crucial, it was Prees who got their noses back in front within minutes of the restart.
Baldwin turned in the box and coolly slotted the ball through the legs of the oncoming keeper to put his side 2-1 to the good.
Prees are without a game this weekend but return to action at home to Shifnal United on December 9.
