A STAR of BBC hit show Strictly Come Dancing has admitted her pride at returning to her primary school in Tushingham to open a daily mile track.

Chloe Hewitt, who has appeared on the show as the youngest professional dancer, officially declared the track open last Thursday at Tushingham-with-Grindley Primary School.

And she admitted she was delighted to be asked to make cut the ribbon and join youngsters for a walk around the track.

"I'm super proud to be back here for this – when they got in touch with me, I said yes straight away," she said.

"It's nice to give back and see what they've done with the place because the only thing about it I remember is the mobile classrooms, and of course some of the staff.

"It does mean a lot to me coming back. When I came here, I had so many opportunities to do stuff but now there's double the amount. It's amazing that kids can just run around this place whenever they want to and it's incredible to see.

"I get health and fitness because I train all the time as a professional dancer so it's important to know I'm putting my name to something that improves children's health."

Chloe hopes she can inspire the next generation, and was ecstatic with a gift of a her own glitterball trophy.

She added: "Hopefully I've inspired someone to come and be the next me. I love it when people come up to me and say that I've inspired them because just to hear it means so much, and that I can share my knowledge.

"And they've given me my very own glitterball as well – I'm so excited!"
