The death of a Wem man is still shrouded in mystery after a coroner was unable to give a cause of death at his inquest yesterday.

James Roberts Wells, 38, was found in his hotel room in Kathmandu on February 10, 2017.

An inquest into his death last month was told Nepalese officials said he died from acute diarrhoea and dehydration, meaning no further investigations had been carried out in the Asian country.

The hearing was also told the cause coincided with evidence that Mr Wells had been ill while visiting his mother and stepfather in Muscat.

But his family raised concerns at the information given by Nepalese officials and Shropshire Coroner John Ellery adjourned in a bid to discover more information.

However, on Thursday, he concluded that a cause of death was unable to be given.

He said: "The deceased died inside a locked bedroom in a hotel in Nepal in unknown circumstances from a cause of death which could not be determined."
