A presentation from the director of primary care at Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will be the main item at Whitchurch’s full town council meeting on Thursday.

Shropshire CCG is heavily involved in the town currently, with potential plans for a ‘super surgery’ at Pauls Moss in the early stages, among other projects.

The presentation is one of three items on the agenda where councillors will hear from outside bodies, including West Mercia Police and Shropshire councillors, as well as a public forum.

There are four items placed in the private section of the meeting, which excludes press and public, including discussing and agreeing a lead authority for the Whitchurch Joint Cemetery Board, a contract to clean and maintain public toilets and to receive quotes for a tender on electrical work.

They will also receive an update on the town’s CCTV service in the meeting which is due to start at 7.15pm in the Edward German room at the Civic Centre.

In other items from part one of the agenda, councillors will hear from town centre manager Zoe Dean about how November’s Christmas lights switch-on went, as well as discussing future events.

Councillors will also review the council’s health and safety policy as well as reviewing the proposed budget for 2018/19, plus consider a report from Councillor Andrew Eade, of Telford & Wrekin Council, on future hospital configuration and consultation.

They will receive notification of the appointment of external auditors PKF Littlejohn LLP to Shropshire Council. They will also review and update the place plan.

Meeting minutes for the Heritage Committee; Parks, Public Real and Civic Centre Committee, and Finance and Personnel will be read and signed off on.

Long-standing items on the agenda, such as the Civic Centre freehold, the skateboard park and increased town centre signage, plus future medical provision will all be discussed.
