A MALPAS parish councillor is urging people to consider taking on an allotment in the village.

Charles Lowick Higgie has made the call in an exclusive message to The Herald, and wants people to take on patches at the Mosslands site off Whitchurch Road.

Cllr Higgie said: "Have you ever considered the benefits of having an allotment? Fresh air and exercise, your chance to grow a few organic fresh fruit and vegetables.

"Malpas Parish Council rents out the Mosslands Allotments, off Whitchurch Road, Malpas.

"At the moment eight are let out, although one tenant has given notice. The rent is just £52 a year for anyone who lives in the Parish of Malpas and within three miles of the parish boundary. On June 4, 8pm, there is an allotment holders' meeting, scheduled at the Old School Tea Rooms in Church Street Malpas.
