Healthcare in Whitchurch will be discussed when town councillors meet on Thursday.

It comes following the announcement at the end of last month that the town's Bridgewater Family Medical Practice and Ellesmere Medical Practice will be creating a new partnership.

The move aims to secure long-term primary healthcare provision in Whitchurch and will also allow patients previously registered with Claypit Street Medical Practice to be registered with Bridgewater on a permanent basis.

Final approval was granted by Shropshire's Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) last Wednesday and the two will formally merge on April 1.

Other items on the agenda this month include a presentation from the Whitchurch Battle Re-Enactment Group of their successful 2017 with a request for a further loan from the town council to enable them to continue their work and members will also received a short presentation from a prospective town councillor and will vote on whether to co-opt them onto the council.

There will also be reports from the local policing team, Whitchurch's Shropshire councillors, and from members who sit on outside organisations, plus details of highways projects that are community concerns and have been submitted to Shropshire Council to be addressed.

The meeting at the Civic Centre begins at 7.15pm with a chance to meet informally with councillors from 7pm.
