A specialist primary school could soon be created near Whitchurch.
Shropshire Academy and Learning Trust has proposed alterations to Coton Lodge including the creation of three modular classrooms, plus the conversion of an existing annexe and storage building.
A statement submitted with the application says it would "form a specialist independent primary school for children who are unable to access a more mainstream setting, due to social and emotional difficulties, low self-esteem, attachment and relationship disruptions and restricted coping skills, which are often presented within larger class sizes."
SALT adds: "Our ambition and motivation is to allow children whose needs are not being met in a mainstream school to be truly inspired, motivated and engaged, within a bespoke and therapeutic setting, where the curriculum will be adapted to the individual interests of the child, to capture and inspire their imaginations and passion for life and learning."
The site also includes an acre of land for sport, outdoor and recreational purposes.
A decision from Shropshire Council is expected by May 4.
