Owners and staff at Whixall Nursery School are celebrating after securing a ‘good’ Ofsted report.

The nursery was inspected on June 16 this year, just over two years since its last visit – and was found to be good in all areas.

Sarah Darlington, who owns the nursery, insists it is proof of the hard work she and her staff have put in between the reports – and thanked all those who made it happen.

“We are delighted with the outcome of Whixall Nursery’s recent Ofsted report,” she said.

“Since our last Ofsted visit, we have strived to provide the best possible education for our children.

“The report has stated our children are active and enthusiastic independent learners who make good progress.

“The inspector recognised the enjoyment children feel and their clear understanding of routines and consistent behaviour.

“We have worked incredibly hard to ensure the personal development and welfare of the children is of paramount importance and we are pleased this has been identified.

“I would like to thank my committed and dedicated staff who have continued the success of Whixall Nursery.”

In its summary, Ofsted said the children are active and enthusiastic learners who make independent choices about what they want to do.

This has a positive impact on outcomes for children.

It said the nursery has a highly-effective and well-established key-person system in place to ensure children’s emotional well-being is nurtured effectively.

It added children make a good transition into school because of the close links with the school on site.

They enjoy shared teaching and learning activities and play times, including accessing school meals which the children take in the school hall.

It also praised the nursery’s attitude to safety, but also believes the nursery still has room for improvement including making more from accurate assessment of children’s progress to setting challenging future targets.
