A former Whitchurch student recently travelled to London to receive her Duke of Edinburgh Gold award.
Jessica Furber completed the award while she was a student at Sir John Talbot’s School, but has since left and is currently studying maths at the University of Chester.
She travelled to St James’ Palace shortly before Christmas to receive the award.
The 18-year-old, who lives in Prees, said: “Unfortunately the Duke of Edinburgh himself was not at the ceremony, but we were able to talk with his son, Prince Edward. Our group talked to him about our expedition section.
“It was a very exciting day and one I will not forget, and I would encourage anyone to take on the challenge as it is worth it, especially when you get to go and collect your award.”
