A former Whitchurch student has returned to take an important role with Tilstock Primary School after its conversion to an academy.

Kerry Goff, who used to attend Sir John Talbot’s School, will take up the deputy head role at Tilstock, now part of the Marches School umbrella, alongside SJT, and will work with new head James Spicer at the primary school.

With more than 20 years’ experience between them, Ms Goff is delighted to be back in the area and is looking forward to the challenge.

“I am eager to work with the community to make this the best school it can be,” said Ms Goff, who will start with Mr Spicer in January.

“As a local girl it is nice to be back. I am really excited to meet everyone and get started together in our quest to improve the teaching and provide a fulfilled experience for the children of Tilstock Primary School.”

Mr Spicer has previously held positions in Stoke-on-Trent, with Ms Goff moving from Nantwich, in Cheshire.

He added: “I am excited about meeting and getting to know the children and working alongside parents. I hope to develop the school so children can have a first-class education and fly.”

Sarah Longville, executive headteacher of Marches Academy Trust, said: “This is an important milestone for the school and we have every confidence this strong leadership team will lead the development of the school.”
