WHILE February was a fine month for Denbigh Town, March could not have got off to a much worse start.

Steve Jones claimed the February manager of the month award for the Cymru Alliance after a decent run of results had stabilised Denbigh’s season.

Drawn matches with high-flying Flint Town United and Vale of Clwyd rivals Ruthin Town, were joined by February victories over Caernarfon Town and Mold Alex.

But all of that now seems a distant memory as Denbigh’s hopes of retaining their Cymru Alliance status were hit by a heavy four-goal reverse at Penrhyncoch.

The Mid Walians were two goals to the good at half-time against their visitors and they added two more without reply in the second period to remain in the top-five with their 11th victory of the season.

Chris Wilkins was twice on target for Penrhyncoch, but despite the loss Denbigh still retain their top-six status in the table.
