A BELOVED Ellesmere trader has thanked the town for helping her celebrate 10 years of trading high-end fashion items.

Ismay Evans owns Esmay in Ellesmere High Street, celebrated the milestone last weekend and was joined by family, friends and fellow traders as well as town mayor Councillor Anne Wignall to cut a special cake.

Ismay, who sells Italian fashion to customers from all over north Shropshire and beyond, admitted she was delighted with how her 10 years of trading have gone.

She said: “A huge thank you for all the cards, gifts, flowers and messages and of course for all of you who came along to the event on Friday.

“It was lovely to see so many of you – the shop was full.

“Thank you to our mayor Anne Wignall for cutting the cake with me.”

On her social media, Ismay – who is a cancer survivor and fundraiser – set out 10 things for 10 years, telling her customers more about her and her work.

This included using her redundancy from Tiggs Clothing to start her shop, using her trade knowledge to find the best for shoppers in Ellesmere.

Other facts included selling fascinators made by her sister Kate, who for Ismay’s wedding in 2010 and once the shop opened, became a good addition to her range.

She added: “I was born in Somerset and moved to Shopshire in 1989.

“Before Tiggs, I trained and worked as a hotel receptionist, I worked in a video shop, I’ve been a credit controller, a temporary post lady, a sculpture painter, but most enlightening was as a singing, medieval serving wench, when my parents ran medieval banquets – that was fun.

“I’m married and we have two cats.

“My main hobby which I also started in 2014 is crochet. I usually have a hook and some wool nearby and I like to rescue yarn when it’s on sale anywhere.

“I have wonderful friends who support me both in and out of the shop. I couldn’t have managed without them.

“After a cancer scare in February, 2022, I now fundraise for Breast Cancer Now charity.
