WHITCHURCH’S mayor has paid tribute to a long-serving business in the town after they officially opened its new base.

Lornashouse Lifestyle was officially opened by mayor Councillor Andy Hall and the town pirate Guy Hepworth on Thursday, March 14, moving into the former Sentiments building at Green End with much fanfare.

Cllr Hall praised the resilience of owners Jane and Simon Lyon for steering their business through one of the most volatile periods in retail history.

OTHER NEWS:

"Together with the Whitchurch Pirate, I was delighted to attend the opening of the new Lornashouse Lifestyle shop which looks amazing and a welcome addition to our town centre,” the mayor said.

“Both Jane and Simon are true examples of how stoic small business town traders have adapted their businesses to meet the challenges throughout Covid, recent high inflation and bounce back stronger than ever.

“I wish them and their staff continued success as they rightly celebrate an awesome 16 years of trading in Whitchurch."

The pair celebrated 16 years of trading on Tuesday, March 12, and gave themselves a much-deserved pat on the back.

“Today we celebrate 16 years of being in business and since 2008 it’s been quite a journey," the couple posted on social media.

“Two years of shopping evenings at home, our first shop opened at No.44 (High Street).

“Then we took on No.31, then rolled down the hill to No.12, then turned the corner and opened No.5 (Green End).

“We went a touch further down the road to No.15 and when Covid hit we went online in No.17.

“And now to top it off, we’ve moved three more times – online is now upstairs in No.12 with SOLE combined with clothing and accessories in No.12.
