A CATTERY owner has spoken of her delight in helping play a role in preparing a senior cat for a new life Down Under.

Petrov is a 15-year-old Siberian cat who was boarded with Linda Williams, owner of Animal Au Pair Cattery in Northwood, Wem, for five months ahead of his eventual move to Perth in Australia.

Lind, who opened the business five years ago, said she will miss Petrov and taking him for walks around the garden, but said he had already settled into his new life.

“We had him here while his family was getting settled in Australia,” said Linda.

“He’s such a unique cat and we don’t see many of them like him.

“He was so beautiful and we would walk him around the garden in a harness every day.

“A courier come to get him from Heathrow Airport – he set off from London at 5am – and he kept telling me it was just Petrov in the crate.

“I said that he was going on a long trip even to Heathrow so he can have his blanket and I put a bag of food on top too.

“I gave him his harness too but they said that customs would only throw it away but he love d his hardness and walking around the garden.

“I love him and it was great to have him here.

“He’s all settled in now too – he spent a month in quarantine in Melbourne and then had to be flown to his new home in Perth which took five hours.

“It’s going to be warm there but he will like it because he’s an old man.”
