A woman had to be rescued from a canal in Ellesmere during the early hours of this morning (Friday, December 8).
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) were all called out to Wharf Road at around 4.30am.
West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) said a crew found a woman with serious injuries that were not life threatening before taking her to hospital in Shrewsbury.
Five fire appliances including the Water Rescue Unit were sent from Ellesmere, Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Tweedale.

A spokesperson for SFRS said: “We were called to reports of a lady in a canal.
“Crews rescued one female from the canal, and the casualty was left in the care of ambulance and police.”
One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) were also at the scene.
A spokesperson for the said: “Upon arrival we found a woman with serious injuries that were not life threatening.
“She received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene before being conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further assessment.”
West Mercia Police has also been approached for a comment.
