A WHITCHURCH man has been charged with criminal damage and possession of a knife/bladed article in a public place after a police car's roof was damaged this summer.
Police Constable Ben Jones reported via policing website, Neighbourhood Matters, that in June this year a man was arrested after a police vehicle used by Whitchurch Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNT) was badly damaged by a man with a blade.
He said: "The vehicle had significant damage to the roof and was taken off the road for a number of weeks.
"Luckily the damage was repairable, and the vehicle is back in use by the team."
He added that a male suspect had been located by officers from North Shropshire Patrol Team D and arrested.
Yesterday, October 9, the police received confirmation that the man was charged with criminal damage and possession of a bladed article.
PC Jones added that a male would be appearing at Telford Magistrates Court in November.
