BANGOR-on-Dee Racecourse has announced an exciting line-up of racing and activities for its upcoming Family Fun Evening on Monday (August 21).

The popular event, which children aged 17 and under can attend for free with a paying adult, will be the second family-focused fixture that the racecourse has held in 2023, following the successful Wrexham Lager Wrexham Family Day in May, which attracted a record crowd.

Whitchurch Herald:

The Open Course is once again set to be transformed into an action-packed area for kids, featuring a range of inflatables, a climbing wall, garden games and some football challenges, courtesy of Wrexham-based Net World Sports, a leading international sports equipment provider.

A six-card race meeting is also being supported by the return of pony racing, with two Racecourse Series Pony Races, sponsored by Dragon Studios, taking place prior to the evening’s scheduled racing.

The first pony race, for ponies 138 cm and under, is set to start at 4.15pm, followed by one for ponies 148 cm and under at 4.40pm. Gates to the racecourse will, therefore, open from 3.30pm.

Patrick Chesters, general manager at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Pony Racing Authority again to showcase another two Racecourse Series Pony Races at our Family Fun Evening.

“This is a race fixture that offers so much variety, with plenty to see and do for the whole family. The pony racing adds to what is already an exciting meeting with six jumps races and lots of fun activities for children.

“An evening like this spans all generations and is a great introduction for those new to the sport and the overall experience to be enjoyed when coming to the races.”
