HOMES and businesses in Malpas are without electricity this morning following a powercut.

Scottish Power confirmed it first became aware of a fault shortly before 7.30am.

They hope to have the power restored shortly.

A spokesperson said: "We had no advance warning of this and first became aware of it at 7:28am.

"Our engineers have arrived onsite to find and fix the fault as quickly and as safely as possible."

The statement went on to say they expect the power to be restored by 10.30am however, the Scottish Power website estimates a restored time of 11.46am.

Meanwhile, a powercut in Whitchurch has now been resolved.

The fault was reported just after 1pm on Tuesday (July 11) and was resolved later in the day.
