MOTORISTS have been warned of a road closure after fire crews were called out to tackle a HGV blaze in Bangor on Dee.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed shortly after 4.30am that crews were in attendance at the incident, on Whitchurch Road - which resulted in the closure of the A525.

A spokesman said: "There's also smoke in the vicinity so we're advising properties to close windows and doors as a precaution. Please avoid the area."

Just before 8.30am, the fire service confirmed that one of the initially mobilised four crews remains on site, monitoring hotspots.

An environmental protection unit was also mobilised but was not required.

There were thankfully no casualties in the incident, the spokesman added.
